About the Alliance for Women & Children

As one of the oldest women’s organizations in Abilene and the Big Country, the Alliance for Women & Children (formerly YWCA) has supported women and their families since 1920.

The Alliance for Women and Children provides quality programs to empower all women and children by educating and assisting women to be health conscious and self-sufficient and providing a nurturing and safe environment for school-aged children.

Programs

  • After-School Care - After-School Care Program serves children from PreK to 5th grade.
  • A-Teens - The longest running program of the Alliance for Women & Children, A-Teens serves teen girls at the middles schools as well as at the North 10th facility with program, camps and service projects.
  • Women’s Health Awareness Program - 2011 is our 20th year anniversary for providing services to uninsured and underinsured women in the Big Country, starting with breast and cervical screenings.
  • Woman’s Economic Empowerment - The newest program at the Alliance for Women & Children, it provides financial literacy training to women 18 to 35 using the US Department of Labor, Woman’s Division resources.
